Twice a year,
a church East Dallas hosts an inner-city community outreach event that attracts
hundreds of guests on to their mid-sized facility. Their parking lot is filled
with inflatables, a stage for live music, a petting zoo, face painting booths,
grills, and a food line. These components provide lots of fun for the entire
family and raise awareness of their ministry in the city. But there is one
other detail that you have to look closely to see: the port-a-john units in the
corner of their parking lot.
Because the church is located in an older building, the inside restroom facilities are a bit lacking. The interior of the building is used only by volunteers during the event, and space is at a premium. It is in no way practical for guests to use the inside bathrooms, but the church doesn’t want anyone to leave early just because they’ve got to go. They know that by spending a little bit of money to provide portable toilets, they are increasing the odds that people will stay longer at their outreach event, and these people will also enjoy the event more than they would if their mind is consumed with thoughts of finding a bathroom. They don’t need a full-on comfort station on wheels, just two small and simple porta potties in the corner that meet the basic needs of their guests and allow their event to function at maximum capacity
Great information about portable rest rooms. This is essential for outdoor events.
